Miniature baby, weighing only 390 grams, managed to fight for her life after her twin sister was placed next to her, just like in the womb of their mother. Today she is a happy girl who enjoys her childhood.
Lily Cobbing and her sister Summer were born prematurely with an emergency Caesarean section at 27 weeks, due to the deterioration of Lily’s health. Their mother, Michelle Roberts-Cobbing, received the bad news that she needs to deliver them immediately during an ultrasound.
“They followed the situation closely. If Lily died in the womb, Summer would have experienced a stroke and she would have died too. I cried, it was scary, but you have to do what’s best for them “- said the dedicated Australian mother.
Immediately after birth both girls were placed in the department of neonatal intensive care. Lily was miniature, as big as a pen, with loose ears and almost transparent skin, but a great desire to live. “She was very small. Her ears were like dried apricots, her stomach was so thin we could see her organs, and her eyes were closed for weeks “- added Michel.
Four weeks later Lily’s health deteriorated and her parents were told to be prepared for the worst. Instinctively, they took their other daughter Summer out of the crib and placed her next to Lily to be close to each other just like in the womb. They snuggled into each other.
Feeling the warmth and love of her sister, Lily managed to overcome all obstacles and challenges that stood on the road and left the hospital premises 8 months after her birth.
Now, she’s an energetic 5-year-old kid who loves to play with her sister.
